The Computer Interest Group meeting will be a week late this month, as the presenter, Rex Bosse, is busy with his son's wedding the next 10 days.
On March 23, at 7:00 PM, we will take a look at a free alternative to Microsoft Office, called Open Office. I'll have the latest version of MS Office on a laptop, as well as Open Office, and we can compare operations and features of the 2 programs. Both programs have document, database, spreadsheet and presentation programs. We can look at highlights this meeting, with more information at a later meeting if there is specific interest.
As a good, low cost (free) alternative to MS Office, this is ideal for those of us on shrinking, or shrunken, budgets, and Open Office also has more of the look and feel of the older versions of Office, so the transition may be easier than learning the "New" Microsoft product.
A year ago, I started using a program that captures an entire webpage to my computer, allowing me to review the page whenever I wish. I would like to show that to the group at a future meeting, as well as some add-on clipboard programs that make my life easier. If anyone has other requests, please mention them to Marty or me and we'll try to feature them at a meeting.
Thanks!
See you on the 23rd,
Rex
