Jonathan Appell, gravestone specialist from Connecticut will conduct a hand-on-workshop in Hillsboro on August 8. Appell is trustee on the board of the Association for Gravestone Studies; Appell will demonstrate techniques, explain tools, and methods he uses, and provide information on the properties of stones and their care. His specialty is teaching and mobilizing groups who want to learn the steps to perform basic preservation procedures.
