GFO's SPRING SEMINAR REGISTRATIONS CLOSED

No more registrations for the Spring Seminar with Tom Jones are available. That is both good news and bad news. It is bad for those procrastinators who have been waiting until the last minute to sign up for the April 2, 2011 seminar. I, for one, will try to learn a lesson and register early for the Fall Seminar, as yet to be announced.

GFO WRITERS' FORUM- MARCH 12th

Hello Aspiring Writers,

The Writers' Forum will meet on Saturday, March 12th, from 11:45 a.m.
until 1:45 p.m. at the Genealogical Forum of Oregon. We meet the second Saturday of each month.
Everyone is welcome, whether you have participated before or not. This is your chance to get started writing or improve your writing, whether you are writing for yourself or for others.

We learn about good writing techniques -- write and read what we write to each other. Without exception, everyone who has participated in this group over the last six years writes better than they did when they started.

This year we are working with Roy Peter Clark's Writing Tools: 50 Essential Strategies for Every Writer published by Little, Brown and Company in 2006.
Each year we work with a book, but this particular book is making more difference In our writing than any other book we've worked with. We'll be working with Now we are working more specifically on language and in December we will be working with Tool 21 Workshop: "Know When to Back Off and When to Show Off"

Bring your lunch if you would like.

Peggy

GFO Illiois Interest Group March Meeting

The topic of the day will be ³Records²...
Gathering them...especially in Illinois (but it will point
you to other states too)--
Organizing them...on paper or on your computer‹ and
Using them to see ³What¹s Missing?²

The Illinois folks welcome anyone, everyone, to their gathering.
If you have Illinois ancestors, come and find out where to look
for records.
If you don¹t have anyone from Illinois, many of the Midwest states
have similar structures so that you could adjust Illinois
research methods to your state.
If you don¹t have anyone in the Midwest (however did they get here
then???) come for the fun of being with the group. They have
a good time together.

The class will be led by Kristy again this month...she never found the time to leave for Illinois! Come and catch up with ³what¹s happening² too.

Hoping to see you
in the Higgins Room...
at 9:30 to 11:30...
on Saturday, March 12th!
