GFO ILLINOIS GROUP- JANUARY 8th

Illinois Bounty Lands
Illinois is one of the states where soldiers were given land in payment for their services during wars.
That sounds ³clear and simple²...but there are many ins and outs, and even roundabouts, that effect---

who got the land...?
what land he received...?
where the land was...?
why things happened that way...?
when someone got the land...?
and how you can search for the land grant that your ancestor may have received.

The many farms in the area above did not all go to soldiers. Maybe your ancestor settled there...but became the owner without ever serving in the armed forces.

Or perhaps your ancestor did serve in the army...and yet never got any bounty lands. How could that have happened?

Join the Illinois Interest Group on Saturday, January 8th, for Duane Funk¹s presentation on the Illinois Bounty Lands and the answers to all of the above questions. Find out where to look to determine if your relative at one time owned land in this large section of Illinois...and whether or not he ever settled in that area. The paperwork you could find about this land may also tell you many other facts about his life, or that of his wife. The government asks many questions...and has kept many records...if you just know where to look.

Join the group on Saturday morning from 9:30-11:30 a.m. in the Higgins Room at the GFO.

Duane will be waiting for a crowd of interested people!
