If your interest is in Illinois, come prepared to watch for your area of the state.
If your interest is in another state, come prepared to see how Illinois did things...and when you go to do your research, you will know to watch for the places that may in some way influence the history of your state.
Is there a reason why a certain nationality is prominent is your area?
Is there a reason why part of your state seems to have been settled 50 years earlier than your part?
Is there a reason why the state capitol was moved suddenly?
Is there a reason why your county was named what it was?
Is there a reason why your county is such a very strange shape?
When did the changes happen?
What do they mean to you and to your Great-Grandparents?
We will gather in the Higgins Room at the GFO Library (yes, me too!) at 9:30 am to learn more about Illinois, and any state's changes through the years.
We will be finished by 11:30 so that you can have lunch...
together with friends...in the lunch room (brown bag)...
or in the neighborhood at a restaurant...
Find a chance to chat with old friends
with experienced researchers from the Midwest
with new friends.
And, if possible, stay for the afternoon session when
Gerry Lenzen will speak about the 2010 census.
What does it mean to genealogists?
What does it mean to you?
Looking forward to seeing you all! Kristy
