The DNA Interest Group will meet tomorrow, January 12th at 1:00 to 2:30 in the Higgins Room
I will go over the Basics of Genetic Genealogy and give out a $30 gift cert. toward a test at Family Tree DNA. It's a free raffle.
If you are a member of ISOGG, just bring a friend to be eligible for the drawing. Otherwise, if you join ISOGG (non-profit org that requires no dues, etc....just to let people know about DNA testing and genealogy) you are eligible for the drawing as well.
We will also briefly discuss 23andMe, a new testing company which tests parts of all your chromosomes to find you cousins or to let you know some health information. This company allows you to find matches on your pedigree chart that are not just he all male line (top line) or the all female line (bottom line). I have already found a common ancestor with one tester.
The 23andMe company will be discussed in depth at our next meeting in April by Tim Jansen.
