In case you are in the large group of people who do not know about IRAD...
it stands for "Illinois Regional Archives Depositories" and is the gift of the State of Illinois to the Genealogy & History researchers of the world.Choose the right IRAD and place a phone call or a letter (for some reason they have not mastered emails), and that will do the trick. Call and ask for the information you need. They will tell you what the chances are, seek it out for you, and mail it to you. If copies must be made, they will send you a bill (which will not exceed $5 without an OK from you ahead of time.)
I hope that you are now intrigued. I also hope that, if you think IRAD might be of help to you, you will come to the meeting. It may be that "your"
state, even if not Illinois, would have records you should be searching out...if you only knew they existed...so you could find out about such records by listening to the kinds of records that Illinois has.
Just show up at 9:30 in the Higgins Room and you will be welcomed in. Leave your name and email address...or write to
